Siobhán Deery

Siobhán Deery is a senior partner of Courtney Deery Heritage Consultancy. She holds a Masters Degree in Archaeology and Heritage with the University of Leicester, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Archaeology and Geography from University College Dublin and a Higher Diploma in Education, Trinity College Dublin. She is a member of the Institute of Archaeologists of Ireland.


Siobhán has 14 years experience working in the private sector as a Senior EIS Archaeologist with a large Dublin based archaeological consultancy. She specialises in impact assessment in archaeology and cultural heritage and has experience in a wide variety of environmental assessment and management projects, particularly in the preparation and coordination of EIA studies and in specialist archaeological and cultural heritage inputs to planning and heritage related areas. She regularly delivers archaeological and cultural impact assessments and archaeological surveys to identify cultural heritage constraints and opportunities to proposed developments. These projects include national and local road schemes, light rail, gas pipelines, pharmaceutical and industrial plants, quarries, wind farms, residential and industrial development.


Siobhán has responded to submissions for planning appeals and has provided evidence as an expert witness in a number of oral hearings (including NRA road-schemes, landfills and quarries) and other planning related court cases. She also has completed archaeological and cultural heritage studies into local area plans and other strategic documents for local authorities such as Lusk LAP and input into the Ardee Town Walls Conservation and Management Plan.


Her experience includes carrying out an Historic Landscape Characterisation Study for Balbriggan and its environs, the N8 Cashel to Mitchelstown EIS Road Scheme through to oral hearing as part of Irelands first Early Contractual Involvement (ECI). This project included the management of extensive pre-development geophysical survey and test excavation works as part of a strategic risk assessment strategy.
